Traveling to Kansas
I am going to be going to Witchita, Kansas this weekend to go visit my grandfather. I have not seen him in five years and I was wondering what the laws are in Kansas and how and where I can carry?
There is no reciprocity with Kansas yet. Actually, I'm not sure their licences are even in effect until January 1st.

If you are quick try http://www.packing.org/state/kansas/ it is working at this moment, but may not be later.
two edits: to get the right info in.

If you are serious enough to go armed in another state, whether it is a pistol or shotgun or long gun, you owe it to yourself to get your legal information from one of the above reputable websites and not from a forum like this. No offense intended, but there is a lot of misinformation "out there" and carrying lethal weapons is not something you want to be wrong about because you read it on an on-line forum somewhere.
I'm mostly familiar with http://www.packing.org and I like them because they will link you directly to the deadly force statutes of the states so you can get your own good information directly from the states' law making or enforcing bodies.
So, while discussions like this are good for mild curiosity, I highly encourage you to always go find out from a reputable source before you risk your freedom.
By the way, you can get KS laws at http://www.kslegislature.org/legsrv-leg ... l/index.do . The weapons statutes are mostly in 21-4201 through 21-4204

So, if you trust me now, you should be fine as long as your shotgun barrel is longer than 18 inches.anygunanywhere wrote:What about a shotgun?
See 21-4201
(7) selling, manufacturing, purchasing, possessing or carrying a shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches in length or any other firearm designed to discharge or capable of discharging automatically more than once by a single function of the trigger;
