With the lack of a traditional safety, I'm a little surprised they didn't try to ban Glocks. However, that might not have been reasonable since there might be a large number of their police force that used them.

No no no. These folks have been electing Daley for multiple terms. I don't want them effecting any of our elections.
:iagree: The good Chicago folk brought this on themselves. Let 'em stew in their own sauce, we don't need 'em and we don't want 'em.

That's what I was thinkin. They need to stay in Chicago. They don't think like we do or they wouldn't be electing those kind of people. They've got what they deserve. If they need to move, San Francisco is a good place.

Amen. They made the mess. They should fix it, or live with it.

Well, the top of the list does specify Handguns.
Does Marlin make a handgun, like a Mare's Leg or something?
I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...

I think everything except the dunce cap and its modern equivalent, the sideways baseball cap.

Most are antique or cheap junk.
So are a bunch of the guns in my safe. What we consider junk might be all a poor person can afford, or might be what was handed down to him/her.
JRG wrote:I noticed Ethan Allen on the list. Aren't they a high end FURNITURE maker?
Ethan Allen made rifles, pepperboxes, revolvers, etc. I wonder how much of Chicago's street crime involves pepperboxes?
TDDude wrote:Daisy is on the list????
Maybe the Daisy V/L (a caseless, pressure-ignited .22 system)?

Just for fun: How many of these do we own?

I see two for sure in my accumulation ("collection" implies thought and effort ;-) ).

Allowing for the usual level of bureaucratic illiteracy and officiousness, several possibles. For example, "Scout" is on the list. I have a single-action .22 revolver, marked "Texas Scout". Close enough for a lot of pencil pushers to disallow it.
The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

Considering how fast the list was compiled, there is no way that the various guns banned were individually evaluated, so the ban is based on prejudicial factors.

I anyone else tempted, like me, to fill in the various applications and send them in, just to see what happens, and possibly to serve as a base for a future suit. Look at it this way, my step-daughter lives just outside Cook County and we go to visit her from time to time, and this law makes it impossible for me to be prepared to defend myself in my RV (which is considered my home) while passing through Chicago.

Maybe the Walther P22 made it on the list because it is popular with the .22 suppressor crowd?
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

I didn't know Marlin made handguns . . .

I see Whitney is on the list. Did they ever make anything other than the Whitney Wolverine? That's actually sort of a classic . . .
