Heinie sells tritium sights (#3180 SlantPro QWIK Straight Eight Night Sight Set) designed with a .156 wide/.120 deep notch rear sight .
I'm hoping (my vision is rapidly deteriorating) that the increase in the width of the rear sight will greatly help in target acquisition.
However, I wonder if this large a width comes with it's own unique set of problems...
Anyone here have experience with them?
Thanks!

I've shot Novak sights with a wide notch rear, but I can't recall the exact number. I want to say it was .165, but I may be wrong. The owner of the had a regular rear sight opened up; he didn't buy it from Novak.
I really liked the sight and I'm going to have some of mine opened up.
Chas.

Charles,
Thanks for the input.
The lady I spoke with at Heinie went on to say the difference between the standard .125 wide rear sight vs. the .156 is significant.
Apparently, the "more mature" gentlemen's vision is now being taken into account...

I have two sets of the Novak wide notch sights and have openen up several of my other sights. My 64 year old eyes really like them.

Just wondering out loud..AndyC wrote:not quite as precise as a tight notch
Abraham mentioned that these are Heinie sights (dot over dot).
Would it make a difference how wide the rear notch is as far as precision?
It would seem to me that Heinie sights with a wide rear notch might be
quick with target acquisition while maintaining precision.

Wide rear sight, thin front sight is the way I like my guns set up.
