My apologies.... I guess I was missing your point. My bad. I'm fighting, or trying to fight, another infection, and I guess I wasn't thinking clearly. A fever will do that to you. Sorry about that.

TAM is right about the 5.11 pocket. I forgot (old age and all) that I carry in the MAIN Pocket and the so called cargo pocket is in front with a flap. So it is really two pockets oveer the same area. But as said, it is a deep pocket. TAM is also right in if you do not use a pocket holster to prevent tipping etc then that can change getting consistent and solid access to the weapon. My holster goes all the way from side to side and so the weapon always stays upright and in the same position. Very important that it does that. I have seen some Galco pocket holsters as well that I think would do that. I carry NOTHING else in that pocket. Spare mags in the other front pocket. Gives me balance and all you know?

So on Saturday I was working in the yard and had thrown on an old pair of cargo pants, slipping my Kahr CW40 into the cargo pocket. Yeah, not immediately accessible but not poking my in the side every time I bent over or squatted. Anyway, later the kids dropped the grandbabe off for a while. We decided to take her for a walk in her stroller. On the way back I started walking faster, then the wife speed up, then me, and then we're running (for certain definitions of "run"). And then the Kahr is flying out of the pocket, bounces across the sidewalk and two bounces into the middle of the street in front of a pickup. I SWEAR OFFICER! It was an unintentional failure!

The truck stopped, I grabbed the gun doing my best to conceal it in my palm, and then my best cat imitation, AKA "Who, me?". Have no idea if the driver had any clue what it was.

Although I did take a quick look for a "some moron dropped his gun in front of my truck" thread.

Moral: Make sure the Velcro on the pocket on your cargo pants has not worn out. Or use a holster.

Embalmo wrote:I use the cargo pouches for my cell phone, keys, and wallet so I can completely free up the waistband and front and back pockets for my arsenal. Sure cargo pouches aren't very practical for stowing and drawing firearms, but they're great for everything else. And when my smart phone is tucked in a cargo pouch my cell carrier doubles as an extra magazine holder. We need a forehead tap smiley.

this is exactly how i use them. Primary pockets for guns/magazines, cargo pockets for keys, cell phone, etc.
