i'm not sure but the county courthouse is also down the street. could be the reason.

Municipal Court is on the back of the same building and the PD has a door to access the court area. My guess is they noticed this and posted 30.06 to comply with the law.

well that explains it. at least its not their way of thinking thats the reason. i've never been in either the court or the police department. couldn't they just post one at the entrance to the court?

There is no reason to post a 30.06 on the door of the court, as you can't carry in there anyway. But since the PD is in the same building and has access through their hallway to the courtroom it would have to be posted on their door. Normally you would be able to carry into a PD if it was in a separate building from the courthouse, but since they are on opposite ends of the same building it would be safe to assume that most people entering the PD wouldn't know it was in the same building as the court. That would place everyone with a concealed handgun who walked into the PD in violation of the law. Thus the signage on the PD door. That is my take on it anyway. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me shortly. IANAL, but that seems to me to be the best explanation.

that makes sense. i wasnt thinking about it as the PD being part of the courthouse premises.

While Citys combine these spaces in the place it in the CHL era a easy way to restrict where we can carry by hiding behind we have a court room in the building. Several towns in my area that courts meet as little as once a month; the rest of the time the room is empty and locked. The law should be amended to say on Carry when Court is in session instead. It would not help you Big city guys much but us small town guys would be happy.
