Caught Someone Breaking Into the Touring

Post by doc540 »

(that's BMW for "station wagon")

cliffs:

broad daylight

bad part of town

helping move my 91 year old uncle

20 feet away sitting in my uncle's truck in his driveway

Touring alarm went off

I turned and looked as a pickup truck sped away.

I run to the Touring, see broken window, think "hit and run".

I chase the truck about 8 blocks, flashing my lights.

Call 911 while chasing, give license and description.

Dude slows and pulls into his home driveway.

I park 1/2 block away (out of gun range)

4 cops arrive.

I discover the window frame has been bent = breakin, not hit and run

Guy's mom and dad lied for him and said he'd never left the house.

Cops believe my story, search him, find cocaine, take his sorry self to jail. :cheers2:

I duct tape busted window, call insurance adjuster, set cruise on 80 on the way home 60 miles away.

Loss: Craftsman tool bag with my emergency road kit.

NOTE: At no time did I either anticipate or seek to involve any of the three guns I had in the car.

In other words kids, Doc didn't fire a shot and didn't want to.

Hopefully you can recover your tool bag as well. At least another dirt bag gets a night in jail....

These were in the Touring when the break in happened or on your person?

One was in the Touring, the other two were in my possession.

In the process of moving my elderly uncle I had removed his guns from the house.

The perp could have crashed and snatched one of the three, but broke a rear, side glass and not a front glass.

Total rookie who fled straight home to momma and daddy.

This is the part that makes me sick. The cops would have had to drag me off one of my kids in a case like this. I am sorry to say this, but I wish only the worse of Kharma falls upon the home of this entire family. What a house full of scum!!! No wonder the child is working his way to a lifetime in prison!

+1
I don't have kids for them to drag me off of, but if this was me as a teenager living at home, the cops would have got there just in time to arrest my dad, and maybe in time to get me to a hospital. I was much more afraid of him than I was of the law.

Bummer Doc! You realize when used on a beamer it's not called "duct tape" but "ventilation conduit sealant":

Did you claim under uninsured motorists? Geico filed on my comp when some jerk tore up my door trying to unlock it. They paid 1700 to fix it then jacked my rates triple on renewal. I went to Allstate who told me that Geico filed it wrong, probably on purpose. At least they did not get a renewal although Allstate raised its intial rate as well.

Can one fill under uninsured motorist if it's an intentional, criminal act?

+1 should be comprehensive, theft / vandalism either way as long as it does not get listed as a wreck

Progressive isn't covering personal contents, only the repair which came in amazingly low: $648 before $249 deductible.

The window shade assembly was the most expensive part at $118.
