Shot Timers

Post by gwashorn »

OK, for personal use with friends and practicing, anyone recommend a shot timer? I try to shoot IDPA when I can but would like to practice and use with friends as well. Any thoughts? Thanks.

If you have an iPhone, there is a free app from SureFire http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shottime ... 05845?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I bought this awhile ago. The only real limitation I have run into is that the delay from when you press GO to the buzzer is fixed and cannot be changed. Also note that this thing is just a little too big to put into your pocket (it is however light).

I bought it on sale for $117 so look around you might be able to get it cheaper then midway list price.

I have been looking at the PACT-3 timer and was surprised by your comment that there is only a fixed delay from "Go" to buzzer. The list below was copied from MidwayUSA's item description and it shows a fixed or random delay (underlined text). Perhaps they upgraded the capabilities since you bought?

The PACT 3 can be changed from delay to instant the instruction sheet describes the procedure. You can also set a "par" time that will beep a second time when the time is up. This is my favorite timer of all simple and reliable.

I can't find a link to the instructions on PACT's website. PM me with your contact info and I'll send you a copy of mine.

I really like the Competitive Edge Dynamics (CED) 7000 timer (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?p ... ber=759103" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Compact, very affordable, and lots of options.
