ESEE - The Glock of Knives

Just got my first small fixed blade for EDC. Its an ESEE Izula. This little knife has quite a following and after getting mine I can see why. Below is a pic -

Not completely sure yet. I've been pocket carrying it in stock sheath, and that works good but not as accessible as I'd like. Experimented with a home-made mercharness, but my mercharness needs some improvement.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to knifes. I bought a Kershaw that Cabella's had on sale when somebody posted it a while back. Its far better than anything else I've ever had and the clip keeps it from getting lost in the recliner, car or ....

When googling for the Izula, I noticed that it was called a "neck knife". Not knowing what that was, I went a-googling some more and ran across this video, which has me intrigued. (there is a part B that's worth watching too).

Based on popularity and plastic, you're probably right.

But I'm equating it with being more of an accomplished "hard use" tool, just like a Glock. Fixed blades are probably not for everyone for EDC, but its working for me. I don't think either of my Kershaw folders would do what the Izula does in this video, and I love my Kershaws.

When I was jumping, I carried a gerber drl sided in a "clip in" sheath, upside down on my web gear...I wish I new what happened to that knife. Any of these have a sheath with a reversible clip?

The stock sheath comes with no clips. There are a number of aftermarket kydex sheaths, tek-loks, and molle clips you can mix and match for your needs. I've been getting pretty creative with paracord.

Now all I need to do is figure out how I'm going to carry it.

woah woah woah... two of my kershaws are laminated steel, one damascus, and one brazed, and you can easialy take them apart to clean, sharpen and perform maintenance on with a simple torx bit.

You will love it. I'm already looking at my next purchase - a H.E.S.T. or 4 - for camping and outdoor use.

For carry, I either drop it in one of my pockets, or strap it horizontally with paracord and tensioner to my belt, at the 10 - ll o'clock position, handle to my strong side.

don't get me wrong, I love my kershaws and use them daily for utility use, but no doubt the izula will survive better under "hard use".
