Simply put, a magazine is a container in which ammunition is stored. A clip is a small piece of metal which holds rounds in place while outside the magazine, and sometimes within the magazine as well.

In that case, is a cylinder a magazine? I would say, yes, it is.... a rotating magazine. Thus, a speedloader is a fancy clip with a decorative knob.

The ship is whatever I'm standing on, and a boat is whatever you're standing on... ...unless I'm standing on a submarine. Then I'm standing on a boat.... ....and the ship you're standing on is in trouble.

Seriously, though, I guess using the two words interchangeably never bothered me much. I do use them correctly myself, but I don't care if others do not.

Nothing is clear. So I will just refer to the thing as, what holds the ammo ,goes inside the handle of the gun (grip, stock whatever) pushes bullets up inside gun so it will go bang. Why be so radical about what it's called. Clip - magazine. Geez.

I do believe the nomenclature police will cite you for your use of the word gun in favor of the more accurate firearm.

Clips feed magazines and magazines feed firearms. Sort of the same way grass feeds the cow and the cow feeds you.

To those of us who were raised this way, it's like calling a rifle a gun, or a 1911 a Glock.
