I saw this on TV last night, not too badly presented. I'm curious about one of the Maine grassroots leaders, Shane Belanger is 20 years old. He isn't shown carrying a handgun that I can see, being 21 is the minimum age for handguns. Unless Maine has a different law....?
The story also highlights the supposed division between the NRA and grassroots pro-gun organizations.

I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...

Actually federal law prohibits the sale of a handgun to anyone under 21 by an FFL. Texas, and many other states, allow people under 21 to own handguns acquired through private transactions.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

Yep, you just can't purchase a handgun under 21. Just like you can't purchase a long gun under 18, but you can still own or possess them under the legal age for purchase from an FFL.
As far as the report. It was pretty fair in my opinion, well besides the Brady guy saying that folks are scared of people with guns. Oh the horor.

I did happen to talk to a guy yesterday a the gun shop who is running for Texas State Representative. He did mention wanting to push open carry in Texas. I don't have any strong feelings either way, as I most likely would not open carry other then when hunting anyway. If others want to push it, fine by me.
Just remember shot placement is much more important with what you shoot than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Re: ABC News Nightline - Open Carry
I saw it and it was very informative. I personally am don't big on the idea of open carry. I do love concelled carry. But that is just me. I however will not support anyone againest the 2nd amendment. I support our right to carry and it is a right in my openion. If it ever came to a vote yes or no on open carry I would have to vote yes simply because a no vote could give the wrong impression to those againest my views.
