What spare parts do you keep on hand?

Post by MoJo »

I keep spare parts that are most likely to be lost/broken for my guns, common parts like springs, firing pins, pin kits, etc. I can rebuild most of my rifles/pistols/shotguns with the parts I have on hand. How many of you do the same? What parts do you have on hand?

It's always good to have a survival kit for your main guns. I have them for my AR's, still need them for my 1911's. I am not completely sure how to use/install it all but having it is the first step.

Typically if one firearm fails due to something more than a spring or firing pin I want it to get professional help. With that said I can do significant repairs on most or all of my firearms, but I still prefer a pro to look it over if something breaks. So when a gun has an issue I typically switch over to another gun and use it. So I guess my usual method of dealing with a gun failing is to change guns, fix it or have it fixed, have it checked out, "recertify" it (500 rounds without a failure of any kind), and then carry/use it again.

It's probably a pretty good idea. I've just never bothered. I've bought parts as I needed them, without any thought to maintaining an inventory.

But you've given me the motivation to get started.

I have an in house pro! SRVA keeps spare parts and maintains our guns in great and improved running order.
