XD 45
Has anyone heard about the possibility of Springfield releasing a XD 45 in a sub compact size? I have a Keltec P-11, but I want a better, larger caliber pistol. I think a XD sub compact will work for pocket carry in 5.11's, about as big as is practical.

For that very reason I have a XD45 compact and a XD.40 SUB Compact.

Re: XD 45
I haven't heard any rumors about going smaller than the XD compact .45

Like or dislike of a particular caliber or platform should not neccarily be the deciding factor. I carry a 1911 as primary. That is what I put on daily when to go about every day business of life. When the duty of the day is not that every day general same ol same ol, I may choose a different carry gun.
I have a kahr K40. I prefer 1911 over striker fire & 45 over 40. That one is my Sunday carry or when I just need to be able to ABSOLUTELY cover it w/ my elbow & cant afford in a crowd for it to be bumped.
Rarely but on occassion I will drop a tiny Keltec3AT in my back pocket.
Caliber & platform I really do not care for at all. That aside it is the best choice I have on a few occassions.
Here is a saying I use a lot.
Dress around your gun. Do not gun around your dress.
That being said & my standard, no man can control all circumstances of life & there are some times that you must gun around circumstances.

The folks over at SA are pretty tight-lipped about upcoming projects. This has come up before over on XDTalk and the response is usually "maybe someday". I think a XDM in a sub-compact form would be great seller, but I am pretty biased.

I like it a lot with the pinky extension mag, I like it ok (meaning I can shoot well enough with it for what it is, short range self defense weapon) with the short mag.frplf wrote:What do think about the 40 sub compact? I keep and carry it, because sometimes, that’s what I need to do.
Or like now, when my XD .45 compact is in the mail to a shop for some new sites..

Very well and realistically put.
I especially like your expression on dress priorities.

Re: XD 45
I own an XD40 Subcompact, and truth be told, I would never imagine pocket carrying it for anything more than walking to the end of the driveway to check the mail. It is quite bulky and quite heavy for pocket carry, even with the short magazine, but that is just one mans opinion. I do however love the pistol. It goes bang ever single time I pull the trigger, no matter what I run through it. I took it apart and cleaned it a couple of weeks ago for the first time since buying it, after about 1000 rounds. Never a single issue. I've contemplated getting rid of it, but I just cant make myself part with it. Partially because it was the 1st pistol I ever bought, and partially because it is incredibly reliable.

Re: XD 45
I e-mailed them a couple years ago about it and they told me they had looked into it but had no plans.
I like the "Compact" idea but it would be nice to have a .45 double stack the size of the XD9/40 even if it only held 7 or 8 rounds in the limited mag for concealment with a 13 round backup.
Maybe they won't do it because of the cost of getting it set up to manufacture is such a gamble. The 9mm and .40 use the same frame. What other round could they use the .45 sub-compact frame for that might save them if the .45 isn't liked enough? I don't think they are going to use the .45 GAP. 10mm?
