Texas Citizens Defense League

I ran across this site on the web. They are apparently fighting for legislation in favor of open carry in Texas. Does anyone know much about the organization? The organization appears new.

I had not heard of it. The domain is registered to Gary Williams, but all the contact information is for the domain registering company. A Google search turns up a few relevant links.

I joined them a while back. As far as I can tell they are a political action group but I don't know if they are actually having an affect on anything.
My posts on this website are worth every cent you paid me for them.

We are a new group, less than 6 months old now, and we are in the process of organizing our regions.

Yes, we are going to push for liberalizing our carry laws and get back real gun rights by getting open carry in Texas. Dr. Suzanna Hupp initially pushed for this when she was elected to the state legislature but was stymied by the squeamish anti-gunners who were even reluctant to pass concealed legislation. In time we hope to get vermont style carry in the great state of Texas. Anyone and everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us in our push for this.

Gary is a friend of mine, from LaMarque who because of his work has made a temparary move to Arizona. Gary, Lottie and their Son, Justin who I played some martial art's with[ untill I quit a couple of years ago] all got their CHL's from me.

Gary e-mailed me that he had become intrigued with the open carry there and how casual, comfortable, and easily accepted it was in that area, Kingman and Bullhead City, and that he would like to have that for Texas some day.

He knows that it will be a long haul and he is in it for just that.

Sounds like a wonderful organization that deserves some support from those that support open carry!

I look forward to using the site as a reference tool and will continue to be on the lookout for news about this group!

There is not a person's word that I take more literally than ElGato's! Thank you for letting us know it is a worthwhile venture! Take care.

Is the group modeled after or inspired by the Virginia Citizens Defense League?

They're a very effective group in their state.

Yes Kevin, Gary got alot of info from Phillip Van Cleave (of VCDL) to start the TXCDL out here. We're hoping to be just as effective out here as they are in VA.

I signed up to see where the organization goes, and to lend my support for easing the rules.

I disagree with shooting for Vermont carry, though; I think Alaska carry would be a better goal, with a CHL available for reciprocity purposes. Vemonters are pretty much limited to VT, NH, and states where they can get a non-resident license.
