New 6" 1911 done

Post by rm9792 »

Took it in to get the ugly Safari Arms finger hook (huge) and half stipple off the front strap. Found out it had a bent barrel. Started changing then one thing led to another. I dont know what the finish is, some polymer based paint that seems pretty tough. Bone/Charcoal color case on controls and MSH, jeweled trigger, fiber front sight and adj rear. Grips are Turkish Walnut one offs. We had the whole thing blacked out but the sides showed tool marks. after filing them down we decided it looked better two toned. I have ordered a new hammer and S&A magwell to have colorcased to match.

Nice, I really like it. To be honest that is by far the best looking 6" 1911 I have ever seen. Who was the Gun Smith?
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

I think the color case-hardening is by far the most attractive feature. That is simply outstanding. I'm not personally much of a fan of the 6" 1911, but if I ever have a custom 5" BBQ gun made, I'll add in that color case hardening. That's really beautiful.

Todd Johnson at Lone Star Armory. He was the one that did that woodstocked AR15 for Shooting Times 50th anniv edition too. This is the third pistol he has done for me and they get better each time. The case hardening was the main thing on this one to be different. I wanted the bushing done but he said the heat would warp it.
