Carry Question
I was brushing up on my Texas gun laws since I should be getting my CHL in the next few weeks. I have a question about carrying while I'm driving around. I was under the impression that WITHOUT a CHL I was not allowed to cary my pistol on my person...I had to have it concealed in a glove compartment or under the seat. After reading PC 46.02 it's my understanding that I can have the pistol ON MY PERSON as long as it's my vehicle and the gun is concealed. Is that correct?

Re: Carry Question
The handgun must be concealed. The law doesn't limit your concealment options to specific places in the vehicle.
We're here. With gear. Get used to it.
Re: Carry Question
You can have it anywhere in the vehicle that works for you (including on your person), as long as it remains concealed. You just cannot take it out of the vehicle unless you are going directly to or from your vehicle.
Re: Carry Question
Crossfire is correct. Where you will find a problem w/ on body carry in the vehicle is if you are stopped & the LEO asks you to get out of your vehicle.
Then you are not directly in rt to your vehicle, home or business.

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

Re: Carry Question
Could definitely get sticky there.....In all actuality, having it off your body in the vehicle probably makes for greater accessibility.

Re: Carry Question
Thanks! Currently I keep my Glock in the glove box but in a Hummer, that's a pretty big stretch in an emergency.
