Anytime you deal with four people, one will be a honest, down to earth person, one will be a little crazy and might or might not do what they say they will, one will be regular crazy and will lie to you if they think they can get away with it, and the last will be dog crazy and won't know the truth if it hit them in the face much less tell your the truth.....

It aint where you come from, my friend. It's the generation you come from.AndyC wrote:The last company I worked for very quickly made use not only of my technical knowledge, but my customer-service skills to bring back problem territories from the brink and make them productive again. This is pure speculation on my part, and I could be completely wrong. Here's what I think happened. Targetmasters knows they're not the only dealer in town. You come in looking for the gun you've chosen after careful research. They want the sale and they know you want the gun, so they lie about the delivery time knowing they can foist the blame on the vendor and you won't know the difference. You blew their plan.

Even if that's true, it sounds like they didn't place the order until a month after they took his money. I don't know if that's legally fraud but it would be enough to make me buy somewhere else.baldeagle wrote:This is pure speculation on my part, and I could be completely wrong. At little OT, but many of the east coast [read NYC] camera dealers do the same thing. If you complain they try to sell you a higher-priced camera. After a while you get to know who they are and buy from another company.snorri wrote:Even if that's true, it sounds like they didn't place the order until a month after they took his money. baldeagle, that's what I suspected, but it doesn't make sense. I told them before I ordered that I purposely made a long trip to their store to place the order. They didn't have to win me over; I picked them!snorri wrote:Even if that's true, it sounds like they didn't place the order until a month after they took his money. I think someone messed up somewhere and this was a poorly-executed attempt at covering it up. I did, indeed, blow their plan by contacting STI. Oops!

snorri, since they led me to believe my order would be placed on May 24th, I do indeed feel that it was fraud. Now, I don't have the money to take them to court over something this trivial...but I won't go out of my way to do business there again.

Re: GREAT cust. service from STI; I am LIVID with TargetMast
Okay, so I have an update!
Jay from STI shipped my gun on August 30th, and said he called ahead to make sure they knew it was coming and who it was for.
We had called on Monday (the 6th) and they said nothing had come in. So I told my husband to make sure they knew the gun was for me. I didn't want them giving it to someone else...that would have REALLY made me upset.
I asked Jay about the ship date again, just to be sure. Nope, it shipped out on August 30th and should have arrived by now.
On Tuesday my husband called TargetMaster for me again (the less interaction I have with them, the better) and they said they still hadn't gotten anything from STI. Huh. Okay, well I'll just check back tomorrow. We had a near flood up here, so maybe it was delayed.
I didn't have time to call them on Wednesday, so on Thursday I had my husband call them back. "Well," they said, "we got an order from STI but it's not yours. It's not a Ranger II."
What's going on?? So I told him to have them check, just to make sure.
Sure enough, the guy goes, "Oh, wait, we do have a Ranger II. But it can't be yours...it doesn't have an ambi safety."
"Actually, we did order it without the ambi safety."
"Oh. Well we didn't know it was yours." (After we called so many times, told them it was coming early, and then Jay said he left a message explaining it??) "Plus we were going to put the ambi safety on it for you." (...but you didn't know it was mine? Also, I have my receipt and you clearly wrote down "single sided safety only")
So they've had it all week and didn't call me. I can't pick it up until Monday because of my work schedule, so I'm still very irked at how they've handled the order. I could have had it this week!
Anyway, I'll have it in hand soon and I'll post photos. I may bring up the issue I have with my order when I pick up my gun, but I'm quite frankly pretty disgusted with the whole matter and may just leave with my gun and not come back.

I told my husband that their order-taking system seems disorganized at best, and is probably the root of all the problems.AndyC wrote:What a complete bunch of amateurs![]()
It had better still be there on Monday when you go to pick it up
If it's not there, I think I'll cry. Then unleash on them. Then get my deposit back. Then cry a little more. I want my gun!

If I may be so bold as to suggest the following order of events:randomoutburst wrote:I told my husband that their order-taking system seems disorganized at best, and is probably the root of all the problems.AndyC wrote:What a complete bunch of amateurs![]()

1. Get Gun, or
2. Get Deposit, then
3. Unleash mightily upon them; i.e., "woman scorned", then
4. Go shootin', and lastly
5. Cry.
Good luck.
