Are you aware of the recall/upgrade? Sounds like the model did have some issues.

Re: sig sucks (p238 story)
The vast majority of the P238 problems were magazine related. The other main issue was with the HD model, as the slide stop was being battered because it was too soft. All HD slides are being replaced at no charge by Sig, and all that have received them report good results. Both issues have been corrected. If want to go on the cheap and use Colt Mustang mags in your P238, you are "likely" to have FTF issues. Not in every gun, but in a good deal of them. The first version of the P238 mag had an exact copy of the Mustang follower - a bad idea. The second version was much more reliable, but still had some issues for some owners. Mine have been perfect. The third version is considered the most reliable (has dimple at the top of the follower).
I have not had to deal with Sig CS, so I can't speak to that, but from what I have heard and read, it is/was not good. That's not good for any manufacturer. I have had guns go back to Beretta, Springfield, and Diamondback, and have experienced excellent CS. As with any manufacturer, there are lemons in the batches. The P238 has had too many of them in the early going, and that has not been helped by poor CS at all. I understand the deep frustrations of their owners. I would feel the same. Just adding some info here for prospective P238 buyers that may be helpful.

That was a "Safety" upgrade, early in production. There were no malfunctions reported.MojoTexas wrote:Are you aware of the recall/upgrade? Sounds like the model did have some issues.

Re: sig sucks (p238 story)
The safety issue is very similar to the situation with the old Colt Mustang that had a nearly identical issue. Essentially the thumb safety could be engaged, the trigger pulled and nothing happen, but when the safety was released the sear could potentially release the hammer causing the gun to fire. It wasn't an upgrade, it was a fix.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

Sorry to hear you had issues with your 238. I used to have one and it ran great. I have owned several Sigs over the years and never had a problem. However I prefer the all German made ones or at least the ones with the German made frame.

I agree. Mostly is because of the mags. The mag also nick my barrel ramp due to the bullet was kinda sticking out when loaded with 6. Sig always says its a 6 rounder when in reality is actually 5+1. other than that. I never had any problem. Reliable and flawless and shoots great.

I bought mine used. What is the HD model, and how can you tell if the slide has been replaced?G26ster wrote:...The other main issue was with the HD model, as the slide stop was being battered because it was too soft. All HD slides are being replaced at no charge by Sig.
