You can spend alot of money ... even with the Kahr.
What I found best, for dirty, daily carry is my Kahr CW40.

Well, for me it is the XD9SC. 13 + 1 carry and extended mags on the belt. Durable, reliable, natural point, carries easy and good pricing. My two cents.

Smaller than Sig P226 but similar manual of arms?

Sig P229?
Sig P239?
Sig P225/P6?

But if you want something subcompact (like the Beretta Storm), I'm a bit stumped. A lot of Glock clones in this size - Springfield XD, S&W M&P, Ruger SR9c, etc. But nothing with Sig-style de-cocker that I can thank of.

Maybe a CZ? But not sure about their manual of arms (never shot one).

A used S&W Chief's Special 9mm CS9 - if you can find one. Or a S&W 3913?

You sound like me. I just bought a Sig P239 .357 Sig with night sights from a member of the forum. It's identical to my P226 but smaller and more concealable. I'll be carrying the P226 any time I can wear a cover shirt, but the P239 hides well under an un-tucked T-shirt. (I'm 5' 10" and 275, so that gives you some idea of size.) If you like your P226, I guarantee you that you will like the P239. The only "flaw" is a 7 round magazine, but I'm upgrading that to the extended 10 round mag. I think of the P226 as a winter carry weapon, and the P239 as a summer carry weapon. And I really like the fact that both weapons have the same manual of arms. Decocking lever, DA/SA trigger, sighting system, grip, field strip - it's all the same.

I dont have one but i too like the Sig 239. The HK P30 is a nice one. I do favor HK's but I carry a beast. HK USP 45 Tactical full size. Also if you want something in the HK line that is small the P2000sk's are worth a look. Thats my next one but I hear they are being discontinued because a new model is being produced but I have NO conformation on that. Even if thats true Id buy one still.

Good luck with your hunt.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

$ for $ XD subs, the S&W M&Ps, Baretta storm subs.
Reliable rugged. Accurate as most any handgunner can shoot & especially in a PD situation.
My .02cents & some think it worth about half that.

I tend to prefer the compact models myself...Kimber Compact, Sig P239 (40 cal), Kahr CW9, S&W Airweight, Kel-Tec pistols. As I get older I have found a preference for DA for carry, so the Kimber doesn't see much action, and as much as I love the Sig (DA/SA) I realize that it would take the deliberate action of hitting the decocker in the aftermath of a defensive use (same as hitting the safety on the 1911) to make it "safe" to either re-holster or place on the ground. So, my preference has moved to the smooth DA action of the Kahr. Otherwise, in the listed requirements of the OP (decocker), I would opt for the P239.

I have a P239 in 9mm. It's a great concealable pistol and it is far more accurate than this shooter. Since it also has the same manual of arms as your P226, it would be a great choice for you.

Side note... I bought a Kimber Ultra CDP II and was very surprised to discover it is a bit smaller than the 239.

yep.... considering IWB carry the 1911 is definately "smaller" than the Sig P239. Actually a tenth or two in width makes a lot of difference to me, which is partly my reason for carrying the CW9 (as well as the DA action). But, I absolutely love both the Sig and Kimber, and shoot them both much better than the CW.
