After all, Cuellar is in town every other week or so, going on and on about how much money he secured from the XYZ fund, or ABC committee to make life better in Guadalupe County.

Re: Question about Governor's race...
Here in Seguin I see a majority of signs for White, even though the county will easily be won by Perry. Of course, my travels take me down the two or three streets/roads that are heavily populated with Dems, so it isn't really surprising. Still, it would be nice to see some opposition.

IMO, Perry would do better to wait about another month before pushing anyway; we've seen plenty of evidence of the short memory voters tend to have.

If that is his campaign's consciously made decision, then I would feel better about it. I would hate to see it simply be something like lack of interest in campaigning.KD5NRH wrote:IMO, Perry would do better to wait about another month before pushing anyway; we've seen plenty of evidence of the short memory voters tend to have.

It's apparently both major markets in the State--I haven't seen a Perry ad in months here in Houston. The Annoyed Man wrote:I was merely curious about why Perry - who is after all pretty well funded himself - is allowing his only real challenger to run against him unopposed in one of the two largest political markets in the state.
I agree that Perry isn't worried about the election. Especially this year, a Democrat has little to no chance of winning the governor's race in a state as firmly Republican as Texas.

I hope that translates to Dem losing seats in congress.

I don't see a complacent GOP as something beneficial.

IIRC, the best strategy is for a challenger to build name recognition well in advance, while an incumbent who already has the name recognition gets better results from a push right before early voting starts. The Annoyed Man wrote:If that is his campaign's consciously made decision, then I would feel better about it. All I know is that Bill White's newly announced plan to 'secure our border' was disgusting. He ran the fourth largest city in the country as a sanctuary city, and now he wants to 'secure the border'? Give me a break.

Re: Question about Governor's race...
Texas has the best economy of any state in the nation. This had to have happened for specific reasons. I don't begin to understand them all but I do know that as long as government stays out of the way, the economy will do just fine.
With 10% unemployment, we all should know several people who are without a job. I know a few who lost their jobs when Obama got his game on and started screwing stuff up but they have all found new situations. The job they have may not pay as much as the one they had but they all are at places where they can and will advance. At least one friend is doing much better financially freelancing his trade.
Is Rick Perry perfect? Nope! Not at all! No one is and the detractors always scream louder than the supporters.
I will say that I know my guy has won when the opponents start making fun of a physical trait rather than debating or criticizing the substance of what he stands for. All I know is if I had Rick Perry’s hair I’d run for office too.
Why anyone would want to change things in Austin at this time in our nation and states' history is crazy.
