New Kahr PM9 w/CT & Night Sites!

Post by KahrGuy »

Broke down this week & bought a Stainless Kahr PM9 w/Crimson Trace & Night Sites! Got her cleaned up & lubed and headed to the range Saturday w/3 boxes of 124 grain Sellier & Bellot rounds. Took me about a dozen rounds to get laser zeroed in good & tight. Pretty pleased with my results.

As long as this jem continues to service me as these 1st 150 rounds, this will be the best weapon (for me) I've ever owned! The only issue I had was on my 1st attempt to put one in the pipe and cycle through a full 6 round magazine (second round). I was expecting issues in this area after reading the many reviews. Looks like it relates to the angle of top round when in a full magazine - causes 2nd shot to FTF. In any case, I believe this only happened ONCE within the 1st 25 rounds. After that, no more grief to this method. I went through round & rounds like nobody's business! Great groupings & felt natural & effortless!

At this point, I believe the PM9 will eventually be more accurate and easier to shoot than my Glock 26 w/CT! Loving the results! Until it arrives, I'll be cycling between 2 different DeSantis holsters: Super Fly & Nemesis for pocket carry. The PM9 is bit heavier than I'd like for pocket (compared to LCP), but gets the job done fine. I'm much more comfortable and accurate with carrying this than my Ruger LCP w/CT.

I'm praying I never have to send this jem in for servicing - ever!

Ordered a Crossbreed Mini-tuck last night in Horsehide leather.

I checked out the entire Kahr lineup the other day and I was impressed by how slender they all are, even the .45.

I have also been looking at them (I have my sights on the PM9).
To me, the slimmer the gun, the easier it is to conceal.

Got any pics? I'm especially interested in how the laser sight is mounted on such a small handgun!

Re: New Kahr PM9 w/CT & Night Sites - now w/Target pic!

Post by KahrGuy »

Last pic. Now this is one that I normally wouldn't take - let alone post, but here goes anyway... It's a pic of my target @ 7 Yards - these are the 3" Shoot-N-C targets and are my new favorites due to versatility & visibility! This is 75 rounds through 4 of these targets. Note that I just changed my CT Laser battery in LCP and was testing it out (wildly) in the lower left - the wild shots there are all 380 LCP I believe.

This was my 1st day out with Kahr PM9 and I had just initial-zereod CT Laser in that day. These shots were probably @ 1/2 to 3/4 second apart - just trying to get through my rounds before range closed! I'll likely be moving elevation up a bit, but probably after full break-in cycle and I get a bit tighter on placement - I'm a bit of a perfectionist with shot placement when using laser! :cheers2:

Re: New Kahr PM9 w/CT & Night Sites - Notice the version cha

Post by KahrGuy »

One more thing that I believe is important to note. I believe I got a newer version of the Kahr PM9 (w/out external safety though) as there are a couple noticeable differences.

Compare the pics of my PM9 vs. the pic that Carry-a-Kimber added earlier...

1) Notice the end of slide towards barrel opening. The end is tapered the last 1/2" or so - starting from end of polymer frame to end of barrel. This makes it ealier to slide in & out of holsters and less snags/bulk w/Concealed Carry.

2) Notice the rear end of the slide stop/release lever. It's also tapered - likely due to the many complaints given by the square, sharpness in earlier versions. I have NOT experienced any discomfort with this version of slide stop/release poking me!

I believe both of the above changes are very welcome and compliment some key purposes of this weapon - comfort & deep concealment.

Thus far, a big :thumbs2: for Kahr PM9 from me!

Congrats ... good post !

I also Love my Kahr..(CW40) have been carrying OWB, in a Galco Matrix7 (Kydex) holster, approx. two years.
I even have a great time, taking her dancing at the range. Never a miss or hiccup !
We carry Gold Dots, 180gr. (GDHPs) and never have an issue with the WWB, paper punching ammo, when at the range.

Similar results today! Went through 100 more S&B 124 Police edition rounds and absolutely NO ISSUES! Weapon shoots much better and is much more accurate (in my hands) than my Ruger LCP. It is, however, much heavier and bulkier than my LCP for pocket carry - can't wait for my CB Mini-Tuck to get here!

Also, the CT Laser is MUCH brighter today on the PM9 than on my LCP! Just changed the LCP batteries and zeroed it in a bit this morning. It's now back in service and ready for use as ultra concealed weapon. Preferrence will, of course, be given to the PM9 as often as possible. :cheers2:
