Found a few new things at a Ft Worth Auction

Post by Salty1 »

Went to an Auction today in Ft Worth, they had about 60 guns that were being auctioned off. Like all auctions some were in rough shape, I picked up a few beauties though at great prices. Figured it is worth sharing and any info on these is welcomed.....

The first is an older S&W Police Revolver is great shape,

This is a Colt New Frontier is almost brand new condition with box and all paperwork and 22 mag cylinder

This is a Colt Peacemaker Buntline, also LNIB

Not sure why I bought this High Standard "The Marshall" guess I just liked it

The best of all is this 2nd generation Winchester 1873, needs some cleaning and TLC but it is all there

I used to carry one of those when I worked security for the college where I was a student. Brings back a lot of memories...

I was 20 years old when I hired on. The only training I got at the time was, "Your shift starts at 11 pm." Showed up at the security office, they handed me a Sam Browne belt with a holster, a radio, a flashlight, and handcuffs. Then they handed me one of those. Fortunately, I had grown up using guns, so, I at least knew how to handle it. One of the other security officers had never fired a gun of any kind when he hired on.

After 5 or 6 months we finally went to the range, and he got to shoot about half a box of shells. That's when we got our advanced training - "Bushes are not cover."

Sorry, didn't mean to take the thread off topic. Just brought back memories...

Tell us about the auction?? Where can we find information about them?

If I have to explain, you won't understand.

Most auctions are listed in the Sunday papers, the one I went to was held by a company who I have done business with and he notified me of the guns, one really needs to do their homework and understand the true values. I am sure he advertises as well. Most people who find an auction that is selling guns typically will not post the info on forums, otherwise people show up and there are additional bidders who bring up the prices. When looking at the auctions look specifically for estate auctions, thats where you find personal collections being sold, there are a few around the DFW area every year.

I saw many guns go [abbreviated profanity deleted] rmuch more than their retail value, people get caught up in the bidding process.

That's invariably been my experience and, as a result, I've yet to buy a gun at auction. Well done, you, for getting some good deals.
