The above link is to Page 1 of the Academy sale ad from September 19-25, 2010.
Note the "Smith and Wesson Allied Forces 9MM Pistol Disaster Ready Kit."
It contains a 9MM semi-auto handgun, first aid kit, emergency food for 4 people
for 3 days, water purification tablets, a 44 mag multi-tool, and 4 space blankets.
Was $499.99. On sale for $439.99.
This item intrigued me since you have a pistol and all the other items.
Since I am on a PC that won't searches on "Weapons" websites, I could not do the
basic research to go over to the Smith and Wesson site to research the pistol.
I have never heard of a Smith "Allied Forces" 9MM. Is this just a Sigma they're
putting in the kit? Or is this gun different from a Sigma or an M & P?
The picture is kind of small.
Notice also on page 1 they have a Ruger SR9 for sale. 9MM in a 17 + 1 capacity.
Was $449.99. On sale for $419.99.

The last I heard was if they sell one more and then another one, they will have sold 2. Not a real big mover. I think they are trying to ride the Mossburg thing with the shotgun in the waterproof case. I asked one of the gun counter guys how many he had sold and he said none at all.

You rock. Thanks for supplying the link about this.
I think the only way they'd really sell some of these kits is
if they put a better model of some kind of pistol in it and
basically threw in all the other items for free.

I picked up 2 of these at a Pasadena gun show several years ago for $329 out the door. I got 2 more mags free thru their rebate and then sold the pistols for $350 each. The kit has some decent stuff in it and would go great in a camper or on a boat. I especially like the windup radio/LED light in the kit. Pistols were replaced with....1911's (shocker). The SW's were not "Allied Forces", but were chrome plated SW9VE's.
