Help needed w/ a Star

Post by longtooth »

Aged friend has been given an old Star 9mm SA.
On one side of the slide is Star Becheverria. Under that I cant make out very good but best guess is Eibar- SPAIN. Other side says Interarms, Alexandria, Virginia. He says it is well over 20yrs old.

Cant figure a way to get the thing apart.

If the previous links don't help - maybe try Steve's Pages - several Star firearms manuals listed http://stevespages.com/page7b.htm

Steve's page has instructions for take down but in spanish.
I will need a clear head & some time to wade through it.

This is the 4" barrel & it is marled BM at the base of the mag well.

Barrel bushing is not like a 1911.

It's in Spanish but check out pages, 11-13. They're pictures.

Pretty much like AndyC described. The Star BM's are really simple pistols. I've had several and really enjoyed them. Most of the BM models we have here were manufactured between 1974 and 1978, and were Spanish police (state police) issue. Carried a lot (most have substantial holster wear) and shot very, very little. Excellent handguns, accurate, dependable and reliable, but parts are becomming harder to find. I do have the pdf file of the original Star BM manual, Spanish or not, the pictures pretty well explain procedures. Can email if you'd like.

Here you go:

I have a couple of those, and a couple of the Star B which is the larger version.
Excellent pistols, reliable and accurate.

This thread furthers my secret assumption that AndyC knows everything.

I am impressed by you sir. And Surveyor.
