I also have a sweet 1911 my father gave me. Had it not been for him giving it to me, I would have tossed it over a berm years ago. I walked around it three times while chanting, but it will not turn into a Glock 17

We'll have to get together sometime and give them a run on the plate rack.

Not yet, but we talk about it often. We were getting dressed yesterday for our weekly ice cream date and she asked me, "does everyone carry a gun?". I quickly responded that only the smart people do.

Love the responses. Just wonder how come some are worth more than others. I know some can be customized, which is fine, but is the frame made out of platinum or diamond to justify their price tags? I don't get it.

Fit, Finish, and Fra..materials.... mainly are the difference. The Fit and finish is much better and higher quality on the higher end ones. Plus bonus things like checkering, cocking serrations, different hammers, different internals..

Machining each piece and polishing by hand is expensive. If you play around with a custom 1911, you'll know the difference (disclaimer: I do not own any custom 1911's.... they're expensive).
