whats this ammo? 9mm browning court .380

ok, I got this box of ammo that is .380, but its stamped 9mm on the casing.

the box says 9mm Browning Court / .380.

anyone know why this .380 ammo is stamped 9mm?

It's .380, 9MM Corto is another name it goes by, kinda like 9mm parabellum and 9mm luger.

The .380 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) pistol cartridge is a rimless, straight-walled pistol cartridge developed by firearms designer John Browning. The cartridge headspaces on the mouth of the case. It was introduced in 1908 by Colt, and has been a popular self-defense cartridge ever since.

Other names for .380 ACP include .380 Auto, .380 Short, 9mm Browning, 9mm Corto, 9mm Kurz or 9mm Short, and 9x17mm. It is not to be confused with .38 ACP.

Glock 23, is the ammo from Sellier & Bellot? I have some empties that are headstamped:

I assume that this is 9mm Browning Corto, or 9mm Short, which is .380, as others have already said.

9x17mm = 9mm Browning Short aka 9mm Corto aka 9mm Kurz aka .380 ACP aka .380 Auto, etc.

9x18mm = 9mm Makarov, not compatable at all with the others. Different bore size.
