Grips or Handles on Taurus Revolver

Post by Embalmo »

Guys,

I donno' if they're called grips or handles, but my little Taurus 94 came with the stubby shorter handle that doesn't fill the hand. Is there a way that I could put a bigger, full size handle on it? I'm assuming that the frame is the same size as the model 94s that have the full size handle; am I correct? Is there perhaps an option of a grip that would go over the existing handle that would make it full size?

I call them Grips.

Yes, you can switch out the grips for a more full size set.
Here are some pictures to help illustrate...

Once you figure out what you want, you could check Ebay.
Sometimes you can get them for a song.

USA1,

Now I've got another problem. What I would like is the larger grip just like the one on the picture that you have. I called Taurus and the guy swore every which way that there is only one size and what I'm seeing is a difference in the design that makes it seem larger; and it's about the added extra finger groove that makes it fit, and he can send me a pair for $9 plus SH. Does that seem right? I've held the revolver with the "other" grip and I'm no expert, but it sure seemed bigger to me.

Sounds fishy. If your luck is like mine, they'll probably send you the exact same grips you already have.

I would check the Hogue website and maybe give those folks a call.

USA1,

I called again and spoke to a lady that was a little more knowledgeable and patient. We went to their site together on the phone and I pointed out the exact type of grip that I wanted. She then gave me a part number and took me to the accessories link for me to verify that it was what I was looking for. She then took my $9+4 S&H and told me to have a nice day. I'm excited-That little grip has annoyed me since I bought the gun.

I call them stocks, but I don't get in a twist about it.

I brought my revolver to Austin Gun Liquidators yesterday to check out the Hogue rubber grip for the small frame Taurus; he also had a Taurus 94 with the "Rubber Combat" grip (The larger grip that you've got pictured above. The Hogue grip was juuuust a hair bigger than my existing grip. Where my grip went flat at the bottom, the Hogue grip curved around to just barely accommodate a pinky. The Taurus "Rubber Combat" grip completely filled my hand.

The little grip is great for concealed carry, but aesthetically I think the larger grip makes it look more like an old school snubby and it'll be more comfortable to shoot.

Embalmo, I sent you a PM. If you (or anyone else for that matter) don't want the small, 2 finger taurus grip, I'm in need of one to replace a worn grip.
Thanks
