Bersa Thunder? More like bersa rain cloud

Post by tauruspt145 »

Wife and i go to the range everything is going fine until she says " My gun wont work" What? let me see that! Tap, rack, ready sqeeze trigger... nothing. :mad5
First thoughts mag safety malfunction oh well ill try a new mag at home. Trip is over. Get home after listening to wife complain about she wanted to shoot more,Put in new mag...Same problem trigger moves full back and nothing happens as if it is on safety. To the tool box remove grip and what the :headscratch Somehow the Drawbar disconector spring has come free of the little groove dohicky its suppossed to be in and is lodged under the hammer pin washer.I then pull spring free and place back in dohicky, Insert empty mag squeeze tigger click hammer falls . Still do not know how this happend but wife will soon be the new owner of a RIA 3.5 1911 :hurry: NOT GIVING UP ON BERSA but her gun will be put through a tourture test :fire before anyone carries it again, one even more thurough then the first.

Same thing happened to my Beretta 96D when I replaced the grips... I unknowingly carried it that way for days before realizing the problem :shock:

I won't carry a gun I've worked on (repair or modify) until it's been test fired. This is to include changing sights and grips.

Bersa .380s often have springy safety issues out of the box. Mine had a problem with the magazine safety thinking the magazine was out when it was in. Sent it back and it's been tip top for 2 years now. I would mail mine in instead of trusting it to not happen again. My Thunder Mini 9 is a big improvement without that stupid useless magazine safety. Don't give up on a Bersa-They'll fix it for good.

Things happen and failures are things that happen. Glad you caught it at a range session and not when you NEEDED it. Put it through the ringer again and see what happens.

Probably the most common issue with these bersas. Fix the spring issue and they're great little pistols when ammo is plentiful. Go here http://www.bersachat.com/forums/showthr ... IC-PISTOLS" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Pick a warranty center and follow their instructions for shipping. Call or post there to let them know it's on the way. They'll replace the faulty spring and have it back to you in record time. When I had my bersa, I had to send it in for the same time and they had it back to me in about a week, I was shocked at the quick turn around.

If it bothers you too much i'd be happy to take it off your hands ;-)

John's Guns Etc. in Lott TX does excellent warranty work. I had a bad out-of-the-box 380 Thunder Plus with the same symptom and he fixed it pronto.

:iagree: That is my exact story to a T! Quick turnaround and he fixed it for good. Avoid the Bersa chat guy if you don't want your personal business with him to become become part of the public forum. PM me if you want details.
