Let's be rebels and not buy ammo.

Post by Embalmo »

Guys,

I've been doing this weird thing like 3 times in a row and I'm starting to like it, not buying .380 ammo just 'cause it's there. Today I spotted a huge quantity of Winchester .380 for $31.95 per 100 and Remington for $17.47 per 50 at (the same) Wal-Mart. I didn't buy any and it felt WONDERFUL. I've got 3 boxes of Monarch .380 in my ammo drawer and I won't buy any more 'till I need it. I really hope the days of hoarding are over. I'm guessing all those folks who bought guns in 2008 have gotten bored and stopped shooting them.

That's easy. I have a couple of hundred rounds of .380, and two pistols chambered for it that I never shoot. My .380 ammo supply is likely to last indefinitely.

This. I stocked up initially because I had to always have some on hand for dept quals. Now I have plenty and hate shooting my .380.

I have never had a problem finding .380 ammo, seriously. I bought my first box on accident during the "famine" thinking it was .25 auto (for a friend) by seeing the .25 auto reaching down grabbing a box, and checking out. Upon getting to my vehicle I discovered I had a box of .380, so I went and bought an LCP to go with it a day or two later. I have probably fired around 1000 rounds of .380 without ever being worried about getting more, .45 ACP on the other hand had me nervous for a while when my stash got down to around 300 rounds while breaking in a Kimber.

Sorry to go off-topic but I love this logic, sounds like something I would do as well.

My local True Value Hardware store always had .380, even if WalMart didn't.

I have been the biggest complainer about the lack of .380 well in the last couple of weeks there seems to be plenty. For the first time my
local Walmart even had some. I didn't buy it as I have enough.

So now my only complaint about my Sig P238 is gone.

It goes on sale at Academy for $9.99 per box of 50 occasionally. Normal price is $11.99.

that is monarch brass, I assume. I like Federal's 9mm however the price jumped from $9.50 to $10.50 per 50 rd. Wil it ever drop to $6.50 per 50 rds?

If we stop buying it all up it will go down in price.

I don't have a .380 but see and have seen ammo for it frequently. I buy .308 when I can get a deal on it. I have seen 9mm for less than $200 per case for brass Magtech ammo online.

On hoarding...buy it if you shoot it, leave it there for me to buy it of you don't shoot it. No sense in stacking it in the closet if you don't ever use it.

Tell you what, you let me know exactly when Z-Day will be, and I'll wait and buy all my ammo for it in the week prior

Until then, I'll keep stocking up on supplies as I can afford :thumbs2: :tiphat:

Oh don't get me wrong I have stacks and stacks of every caliber that I shoot, my point is don't buy tons if you don't go through it. I shoot almost weekly and don't buy ammo I don't use.

I dont hoard ammo, but I do usually buy 2 boxes of .380 when I see it, even if they have more. I shoot my ammo. I have 2 .380's and about 2 boxes of ammo left. I go out and buy my .40 from walmart right before I shoot because its so available.
