They're all extremely nice people and very understanding. I'm sure so long as the little one has three or four thousand clams in $20 bills, they'd be happy to take him in trade for one of their full-spec pistols...

I'll post my own pic after I get done cleaning the house and giving Mrs. Hammer the best back massage ever!

Dude! That's gotta be the best Commander-sized model available for the money. Congratulations. Break it in with a few hundred rounds of good-quality FMJ, cleaning and oiling it very thoroughly every 50 or 75 rounds with breaks at the range every 25 rounds or so to run a bore-snake through it--and maybe clean the feed ramp--and you'll have one sweet tack-nailin' machine.

Let's see...

TheHammer or TheHammernator (rather generic, and deferrential to your past persona)

19Glock11 (the bipartisan, post-election wimpy choice)

DarthGlocken (pretty lame, I admit)

CarryRight (Does anyone have this one? If not, it reflects your decision. Ahem.)

And last, but not least...

AmericanHammer (the 1911 is, after all, distinctly American in design and popularity. And this name might get you on that Stan Lee "Who Want's to be a Super-Hero" show.)

Went to the range yesterday. A buddy from work (new convert) is looking for his first pistol. I've been with him at a gunshow, had him hold all different types and styles. He started leaning toward the Taurus 24/7. I explained about the looooong trigger pull.

So he went with me and rented a Taurus. After a few mags I let him try my G21. He never pick up the Taurus again except to turn it in. Then I let him try my 1911SC and my Colt 1911. HE'S HOOKED NOW. In fact, I thought I may not get the S&W back. Good thing I didn't take the Ed Brown with us.

He actually did better with the Glock but the trigger was what sold him on the 1911.

Gun show at Dallas the 24 & 25. Currious to see what he gets.

On the other hand, my oldest daughter likes the XD better than anything else I own. (getting her an XD for Christmas). She just does'nt like the feel of the 1911.

By the way GH how about GLOCK1911

Wait until he shoots that Kimber, he'll probably change his name to: WHYDIDN'TIDOTHISYEARSAGO.

The "CDP" is not exactly "hard to look at" either. Can't say that about a Glock IMO.

I'd hate to make a judgement before all the facts are in......but, it would appear that my above advice was not adhered to.

CONGRATS!!! on your new purchase! Let's go "heat it up" this afternoon!

Thanks for the help on the username. Y'all seriously crack me up. I was thinking that for now, GlockenHammer could still be a good transition name, as in "Glock" (which started this whole gun thing) and "Hammer" (as in that doohickey at the back of the slide on my brand new 1911). For now I've still got both, so I'll keep the name.

BTW, a short range session tells me this won't be a short dance on the dark side. It's nice to know I've got lots of mentors over here to take good care of me. I've already got dissassembly, reassembly and cleaning advice, bullet recommendations and all the peer pressure a guy could ask for. Thanks folks!

And jbirds1210, I'm still carrying that ugly Glock with 14 rounds of .40, so you haven't completely lost a friend...

That is a beautiful gun! Very very nice. I love the way Kimber smooths the edges....

MUST look away from the 1911  You have inspired me to pull out my Springer and sit it on the desk and stare at it for a while.

<---Post 1000.....and it is about your 1911 YIKES.

I know you will love that trigger!

I have seen the spark in your eyes with that nasty old Glock.....I know that you will never ignore her!

Bad addiction to have!
I only have 2, a Springfield Loaded Stainless and Kimber Ultra II Tactical, do I need a 3rd? I've never seen the Ed Brown Special Forces. Hmmmmmm :willynilly:
Your too cheap to buy the Ed Brown. I'm the gun snob remember. Give me the Springfield and go get yourself another Kimber.
