Spend my money for me!

Post by dws1117 »

Well at least give me some suggestions. I get to buy a gun for Christmas. :anamatedbanana :anamatedbanana

Requirements:

1. 1911! nothing else!

2. Commander-ish length

3. Full size grip

4. Steel or Stainless (prefer stainless). No alloys. Regular steel is easier to refinish when needed and stainless is well stainless.

5. Prefer a gun with a bushing, but not a deal breaker.

6. Would like some bells and whistles. I don't want to have to do much more than have the MSH bobtailed and a trigger job.

7. Readily available.

8. Most important is a $1000 budget. May be able to fudge a bit but not a lot.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Eclipse Pro II

I know you said no alloys but look at the SW1911sc. Been a good one for me. There are so many choices though. This is really going to be fun.

I dont. I got to buy one for the wife.(see range report on Baretta Storm) Now Mom wants one like it. I still need a little tiny 9 for for church & dress carry.

You know what I think of Kimbers. If you want a steel frame, Commander size, nights, then you cannot beat it in my book. That is what I had as a 2nd primary. I did carry it & liked it.
I dont think you will need any trigger work on it out of the box. That gun outshoots me as is & a 4 to 4.5lb trigger pull is not too heavy for a PD weapon. If you are going to use it for competition only, different story.
If I could have a wish on Kimbers out of the box it would be the beaver tail.
That is the gun that converted tote 9 to daily carry. He came down for a couple of days & carried it all day. Went home w/ it & my backup holster.
You wont be disappointed.
My .02 & worth about half that to some.

Good morning Diode. Which part do you agree with? The review & the "you wont be disappointed" or the
"my .02 & worth about half that to some."
Have a great day friend.

Check out the Springfield Champion @ http://www.springfield-armory.com/prod- ... 1-ch.shtml
It is just about EXACTLY what you're looking for. It has all of the Custom Loaded features -- which takes care of the sights, barrell, carry bevel treatment, etc... in a Commander length with a full size frame!

There! That was easy!!!

Now, wait for the Reliant Gun Show and check out the usual Mega-Dealers for the best prices.

(I'm actually thinking about doing the same thing, so I didn't have to think too hard to answer your question). Good Luck.

Cap'n. Do you know when that next show at Reliant is scheduled?

Jan. 20th & 21st. for the Reliant Show. (HGCA).

However, the next Pasadena Gun Show is this weekend, Nov. 18 & 19.

(Next G.R. Brown show is Dec. 30th & 31st).

I can't complain about Kimber whatsoever. I carry a 4" Tactical Pro right now, usually have a 3" Tactical Ultra.

If you want all the bells and whistles, look at Kimber's CDP line, or their Tactical line. They make great carry guns and shoot beautifully. Both can be had for new under $1000(~800 at most shows I've been to).

Why don't you get the new Taurus and give a range report?
