Looking for the Qualification Layout

Post by DustinB »

Well I finally talked my mom into getting her CHL too. Saturday we went out and let her fondle more than 30 different guns. She held an S&W 642-2 and decided she had to have it.

Over the next few weekends I want to take her to the range and actually run her through the qualifier myself. Going to buy a cheap whistle as well.

I'm looking for the complete course list including how many rounds to load each time and when to blow the whistle. Does anyone know if this info is online and where to get it?

Thanks
Dustin

Here is a summary I created:

It can also be found on the DPS website, but I don't have the link handy.

Ø resist

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.

I don't remember a whistle being used when I qualified. Odd.

I have heard of some using a whistle. Most just holler FIRE.

I've heard the whistle is a good sharp reactionary signal to commence and to cease fire...Maybe thats why some use it...

I always use a whistle. Its loud and sharp, and can be heard regardless of the ear proection method being used. Much better than my yelling "Fire" too many times.

In early months, I got tired of blowing whistle and constructed range with recessed lighting at the 3, 7 and 15. Flipping switches is much handier.

Not that it can't be done, but methinks a 642 may be somewhat of a challenge at 15 yards, especially if a newb. I'd suggest loading that thing with nothing heavier than 130-grainers and going for all the easy points possible at the 3 and 7.
