Springfield VS Kimber

I own a Kimber (Eclipse Pro II) and love it. I've also fired my buddy's Springfield TRP, and loved it too. Just recently I told him that if he ever wants to sell it to let me know. I've never had any problems with my Kimber and therefore have never had to deal with customer service.

Trying to debate which is better is like the old Ford versus Chevy debate...it's really a matter of personal taste, in my opinion. Either one will get the job done and ultimately you need to be happy with your purchase.

TAM, I've been wanting a Kimber Pro CDP too...that's the Kimber I originally wanted but got impatient when I couldn't find one locally and bought my Eclipse. Maybe someday I'll get one...in the meantime my Kimber Eclipse Pro II has been my regular #1 carry piece day in and day out.

I have never had a hiccup with my Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II in the year I've had it so I have no experience with Kimber's customer service and I would not hesitate to buy a Springer 1911 if there was a certain model that attracted my attention - they are both good quality guns. Like Mojo Texas says - it's like comparing a Ford to a Chevy. Even though I tend to lean toward Chevys there are certain model Fords I like also (Mustang GT anyone?).

Imbel of Brazil makes the castings for Springfield. Upper end models are finished in the U.S. while some models are finished in Brazil and so marked. Imbel is a premier operation that has been making quality weapons for decades.

I own both brands. The Kimber was about $1200 and the Springer was about $800. Honestly, I can't tell a difference in quality or reliability between the two. The Springer did come with nicer grips. They're both produced in mass so they're not anywhere close to a custom or semi-custom.
