Re: plastic came today, shoping for gear in dfw question
The Ft. Worth gun show was last weekend and would have been some help. The gun show in Dallas is Thanksgiving weekend, I think, and would be an even better chance to look. There were quite a few choices in Ft. Worth and I ended up buying a Kangaroo Carry even though I already have an IWB that I really like.
I'd suggest looking through some of the threads on this forum to at least get some ideas of names. Then, go to those websites and see what they have available for whatever you are considering carrying. There are so many choices that I'm not sure that I could work through them in just one session. Reading what others say about the pros and cons of the different types may help you zero in on a few that you would really like to see in person.

The really good stuff is online. Comp-tec is my favorite, but there are a lot of choices. Check out the forum and ask questions.

Yeah, I second that notion. The really good stuff is online. Let me break it down for you. Regarding on-body carry holsters, you have basically 3 ways to carry;
MAN
1. on the belt; OWB (over the waist-band), UWB, Appendix, Small of Back, Strong Side, etc.
This is most comfortable as weight is evenly distributed on your belt, which rests over your hips (on your waist). It is also least concealable. The most comfortable of all these options is OWB, strong side. The least comfortable is UWB, small of back. This is also dangerous if you fall on your back, the gun may break your spine.
2. in your underwear/under clothes; SmartCarry, BellyBand, shoulder holster, Holster T-Shirts, etc.
This is least comfortable but most concealable for large to medium size guns. This method may also be hard to draw your weapon and almost impossible to reholster, too. The easiest draw IMHO in this category is the SmartCarry. The shoulder holster may force you to muzzle sweep innocent bystanders behind you and your own arm when you draw. However, this is also the easiest method to draw from a the car.
3. deep concealment; pocket, bra, novelty guns such as braverman pen gun & NAA belt buckle gun.
This method is comfortable and concealable. However, this method will only let you carry a mouse gun. Pocket holster and bra holster are the most popular in this category. The Kel-tec P3at has an optional pocket clip available. This may be used to clip the gun to a bra. If you have a really comfortable sports bra, this will be a good method to conceal a 38 caliber gun as the kel-tec p3at is really lightweight. Loaded, the P3AT weighs less than a full size auto pistol's magazine!
I suggest that you get one of each. Come to the next social and try other people's holsters, then go and buy one online or at a gunshow or local shop. Good luck!

The good stuff is online, but there is a selection at Cheaper Than Dirt off of MArk IV Parkway and 820. They are also on line.

Unless your carry choice is 1911, Glock, Sig or J- frame Smith holster choices in person are very hit and miss in D/FW area. It took me nine months to round out my holster collection for my carry guns and multiple trips to gun shows and shops. I have probably at a minimum 3-5 holster option for every weapon, first buy a BIG box then start holster shopping.
None are perfect but all work In specific situations. One of my favorites for the PT140 is a ballistic Blackhawk 3 slot pancake works outside the belt with retention strap or under the belt without the strap.

You can look online at Tucker Gun Leather and they have great stuff. Just received my silent thunder holster, just yesterday...good luck and get your box ready for the ones you try and keep in a box until the next one.
Interesting, the wife and me received our plastic yesterday, great day yesterday!
