Just stay away from Gamo. Those are not for children.
Re: BB gun for the 5yo
My brother had the Daisy BB rifle, with a wooden stock. He could shoot a beetle out of the top of a tree.
I had the Daisy 1911 BB pistol, after having a rifle that shot compressed air, (and mud I'd load it with)
I'm unfamiliar with today's models, but those low powered ones were fun.

Low powered is fun, just looking to terrorize cans and squirrels.

My son is two and a half, and I plan to start him with an Airsoft at around age five, and always with supervision. An Airsoft is less dangerous than a BB gun, and it'll be sufficient for teaching him the basics of firearm safety and marksmanship. Once he's demonstrated proficiency with the Airsoft, he already has a BB gun (and a .22) put aside for when he's older.Oldgringo wrote:BINGO! If I recall correctly, I don't think I got a BB gun until I was somewhere in the range of 8-10 years old, and I started shooting real firearms (.22 and .410 at first) at about age 12.
