It was definitely a bit snappy, which I was expecting since that's what I've heard about 9mm 1911s. I should have lubricated it before going out, but it was an unexpected trip so I didn't even think to do it. It "hung" every once in a while, and the gun jerked a little more on those occasions. Oops. Those instances aside, everything was smooth and it was very nice to shoot. Very accurate, too!
My husband and I took turns firing rounds until we'd gone through 100 total. If we had had more time, we'd have put another couple of boxes through it. The second round was a FTE, and somewhere towards the end there was another FTE. The slide failed to lock back on an empty magazine every time. I contacted STI about that, and they said to just keep pumping ammo through it, and to call them if I'd reached 300 rounds and the magazine still failed to lock back.
We took it out again today and put another 50 rounds down it before we lost daylight. The slide locked back on the empty magazine every time. Go figure. It was also freshly lubricated today, so it shot even better than the first time. We didn't use paper targets, so I have nothing to show you guys...unless you want photos of broken bottles and boxes that are torn to pieces!
Summary:
My money was well-spent. I love this gun.
If we ever make it to a forum outing, ya'll are welcome to try it out!
