Smith and Wesson "Self Defense" model - Comments?

Does anyone know for how long Smith and Wesson has had
the "SD (Self Defense)" model?

I stopped into Academy/Lewisville today and the gun counter
guy said it's basically a Sigma, but for more money than a Sigma.

IMHO, the SD looks better than a Sigma, but if the internals are
more Sigma-like, the M & P series would still be the more desirable
semi-automatic Smith models.

Its a new line up from S&W with some ergonomic upgrades and a revised trigger over the SIGMA series. It does replace the SIGMA line and is essentially the same gun.

I liked the Sigma length when at the range, but the trigger, after shooting better weapons, is horribly long and heavy.

It looks like they took at least some visual cues from the M&P line. All three of the Sigma, SD, and M&P lines have the same trigger mechanism, it looks like; but the shape of the pistol around the trigger is shared between the SD and M&P lines, but not the Sigma line.
