From what I have read about Jimenez guns, the CCW badge may be worth more than the gun.PappaGun wrote:I came across this on Gunbroker this morning.

Re: Buy a gun get a badge!
A guy was giving his spiel about CCW babdges at a booth at the GRB gunshow yesterday.
"The cops don't know who's the good guy and who's the bad guy when they get on scene....They see you with a gun and BOOM, your DEAD!!.....I present to you, the Officially Licensed Concealed Carry Permit Holder Badge. No longer will you be shot by the police while trying to defend yourself in the middle of the night."
Now that made me laugh.

Be fair, market research clearly showed that a majority of folks get really fed up with being shot dead after the third or fourth time it happens to them.Carry-a-Kimber wrote:A guy was giving his spiel about CCW babdges at a booth at the GRB gunshow yesterday.

Made me laugh, but then I started thinking. One of the arguments given against campus carry, by the university police Capt, was that the cops won't know who is the bad guy and will shoot anyone with a gun. Should we introdcue the concept of a CHL badge to them and require it as part of campus carry?

Re: Buy a gun get a badge!
The argument attributed to the police captain as stated here is not valid, and by making this statement, if it is accurately quoted, he has set himself and his agency up for a lawsuit based on an agency policy of training its officers to use deadly force outside the law if his department is ever involved in a bad shoot in the future.srothstein wrote:Carry-a-Kimber wrote:A guy was giving his spiel about CCW babdges at a booth at the GRB gunshow yesterday.

The question to ask in these circumstances is, "Are your officers trained to shoot anyone with a gun who is not a uniformed campus police officer, regardless of what he or she is doing with it?"
If the answer is "yes," the follow on questions are:
"Isn't possession of a gun on campus by someone exempt from Texas CHL licensing and campus carry restrictions under section 46.15 of the Texas Penal Code (e.g., a local police officer, deputy sheriff, retired officer, etc. who is taking courses at your college) completely legal?
Do I understand correctly that your agency trains its officers to unlawfully use deadly force against a legally armed current or retired police officer who may be using that gun to protect himself and / or others from deadly attack?
If not, how do you reconcile that position with your original statement?"
This line of questioning should put the discussion back on a track that acknowledges there is almost no difference between a nonuniformed LEO and a CHL holder when such folks are encountered by responding officers at the scene of a violent incident. The LEO will most likely have a badge with him, but he may not have had an opportunity to take it out and display it, its position on his body may be blocked from the initial view of a responding officer, or the responding officer may very well focus on the gun only and not notice the badge, even if it's visible. In any case, the crucial point for establishing justification for use of deadly force is not possession of a gun, but what one is doing with it.

For schools, I think the sash would be more appropriate.
And thank you Excaliber, good questions

A gun that won't shoot when I need it to, that's junk...but a badge that keeps me from getting shot...now that's cool!
