Great Tactical Pistol Light FANTASTIC Price

Post by HotLeadSolutions »

Let me start this post by saying that I have no affliation with NEBO Flashlights at all. I purchased one on a whim at the Mesquite gun show, and so far it has been a great light. This is what the manufacturers have to say about it:

Image

NEBO PROTEC ELITE HP190 uses a highly efficient CREE Q5 LED to generate 190 lumens of intense white light.
Light of this magnitude is enough to dominate an aggressor's night adapted vision, ideal for military, law enforcement, and self-defense.
The reflector lens focuses the beam for long distance lighting while also producing enough light to support the user's peripheral vision.
The HP190's batteries will produce 3 hours of continuous illumination.
The compact body of the HP190 is constructed of aircraft grade anodized aluminum making it a lightweight, yet powerful light source.
The HP190 is also O-ring and gasket sealed to be completely weatherproof.
The HP190 features an ambidextrous momentary/steady On-Off switch to provide one-finger operation. This switch allows you to select 100% white light or defensive strobe.
Specifications Length -3.375" Width - 2.25" Height - 1.25" Weight - 0.75 lbs. Features * One high-power CREE Q5 LED bulb outputs 190 lumens of light (bulbs rated for 110,000+ hours of life) * Anodized aircraft grade aluminum weather-proof compact body design * 3 hours of continuous light * Ambidextrous On-Off switch allows for momentary or steady activation * No tools required * 3 modes -100% white light (230 lumens), or 100% white light in strobe mode * Two CR123A batteries included

This is what I have to say about the NEBO HP190
This light is built tough! After purchasing it, i took it home and tested it, then immediately started abusing it. I dropped it on the ground from a height of 6 feet onto tile, concrete, and asphault. (overall dropping it more than a dozen or so times) I laid it in my driveway and ran it over with a Chevrolet HHR and then submersed it into water for more than an hour. After all of that abuse I took it to the range and mounted it onto my M&P .40 (which takes less than 5 seconds) and fired more than 200 rounds while leaving the flashlight in the on position the entire time. The ultimate test: I gave it to my neighbors 6 year old kid to play with for a few days. he brought it back and complained that it stopped working. I replaced the batteries, and the light came back on as bright as the first time I used it.
Now time for the really great part: This light only cost me $40.00 new. You can find them all over the internet for less than $50.00

Ergonomics:
while mounted on a full frame M&P .40 the on/off switch is in the exact spot that you need it to be. Very easily activated by your trigger finger.
The Downfall: There is no momentary switch. It is either on (constant or defensive strobe) or off. Kinda hard to "Cut the Pie" while clearing your house at night.

While at the indoor range (Target Masters in Dallas) This light had no problems illuminating targets at 25 yards.
While walking in my neighborhood at night, i could illuminated objects all the way down the block.
The light is bright, white and intense.

If you are looking for a tactical light for your pistol that will mount right onto the rails...the NEBO Protec Elite HP190 seems to cut the mustard.

Thanks for the suggestion. DealExtreme.com has many LED lights in the 100-200 lumen range for $10-20 so I always thought it was strange someone didn't make a rail mounted handgun light in a similar price range, or even double the price.

It's nice to see the handgun lights finally coming down under $50 although I'm not sure of the benefit of a striking bezel on a gun mounted light.
When in doubt
Vote them out!

I had kinda wondered about the striking bezel on a pistol mounted light as well, but with the cost of ammunition these days, you never know when you might need it.

We picked up some of the Nebo NU10H handheld lights today. At $20 for 2, better price than Maglite, for trying out. Even disposables might be interesting at that price, if they worked.

ETA: Unfortunately, made in China. Nebo seems to be well-represented online.
Here's what we picked up:
