Q - Taurus M85 .38 spl

Post by Rex B »

I have a gun listed for sale, and have been offered in trade a Taurus M85 airweight snubby in .38 spl.
Looks to me like a good alternative to the S&W, and I don't currently have a snubb revolver.

Anyone here have one of these and can offer a recommendation - or warning?

I own a Taurus 85 Ultra Lite Airweight is an S&W trademark. Taurus revolvers aren't S&Ws but hey are far from junk either. They are good, solid, reliable firearms. Mine gets carried much more than it gets shot simply because a snub isn't a target gun. I bobbed the hammer making it DAO it's never failed to fire and will hold a minute of bad guy at 15 yards. It's in a DeSantis Nemesis holster in my left pants pocket right now. The Snubby, don't leave home without it! :thumbs2: :coolgleamA:

I knew Airweight was trademarked, but that's what the guy called it and I couldn't think of what the Taurus term was.

I had read some mixed reviews of the rimfire revolvers, with stories of out-of-time revolvers and spotty customer service.
I could not ever recall seeing a bad review of a centerfire revolve, but then I wasn't looking for them.

This one is valued at $275 for trade purpose, which looks to be about right.

Thanks for the input.

I have a Taurus Model 85CH, factory bobbed hammer. I like it. I used it to take the Instructor training back in '95 and then 2 re-cert classes. And have carried it. Nice little handgun, I never shot less than 245 with it. :txflag:

I had a Taurus 85 3" .38. Shot well, trigger was so - so, but all in all, I thought highly enough of it that I ended up giving it to my mother for a home protection gun.
