My Christmas 1911 and it's journey!

Post by Jbird5363 »

My wife gave me the greenlight to buy a 1911 in late November. So the search was on I was looking for a commander style for ccw. Then my dad tossed in his two cents told me I should wait. I'm glad I did here's what I got on Christmas day.
It's a iver Johnson 1911a1

Then I shot it and decided I wanted a beavertail and skeleton hammer. So I ran up to amss on jones rd the set me up with a Wilson combat drop in beaver and the valueline hammer.

Then I got a bright idea from photos floating around and machined me one of these guys.

Then I polished the barrel

And today my grips came in.

All that's left is my Wilson match grade trigger.

I may get a extended safety. I'm happy with everything else for now may do the sights eventually I'll have to take it up to work and put a dovetail in it.

No it was new off the shelf. Iver Johnson is the newest 1911 makers in the mix.

VERY NICE!

It sure is fun seeing a 1911 come to shape huh?

Love what you did with it, I would suggest a extended thumb safety and new sights though. I added them to my Springer and absolutely love them!
