My faux pas. It's a story about a guy who thwarted a home robbery with his AK-47.

The scary thing is they broke in yelling "police." Though the article says they yelled it in Spanish, thinking that it is the police, even for a moment, may put you at a serious disadvantage.

But nobody needs an assault rifle for hunting!!!

It is becoming more and more common for home invaders to imitate police. Just last night, Houston police chased, but failed to catch, some suspects who were posing as ATF agents.

The really scary thing is it is becoming more and more difficult to tell the police and criminals apart. If a group of heavily armed men with their faces covered kicks in your door and come in yelling incoherently, how are you to know if they are home invaders or police. I haven't done anything to merit a visit from a SWAT team (although police have been known to hit the wrong address) so I'd likely open fire in those circumstances, and if they did happen to be police at the wrong address I'd probably face charges.
