I'm good with whatever you think! I like it.G.A. Heath wrote:The copyright would be for the image file, not the logo.
TAM: How about instead of assigning me the copyright you license it with a non-commercial creative commons license (perhaps with attribution so you get recognition). If giga is cool with it I'll add the image to the server tonight when I get off, or early in the morning when I get up.

Will do.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

Re: Lets put together an FAQ
The wiki is really starting to take shape. I would encourage others to collect their thoughts on various topics to write up some summary pages and put them there.
G.A. Heath, looking at the logo image when it is reduced to that size tells me that I've got to try some other designs that will be more legible. I'll try to come up with some alternatives and I'll PM them to you for your consideration.
I also think that we should be very clear that the WIKI is not intended as a competitor or replacement of this board, which is a hugely valuable resource, but rather as a supplement where certain valuable insights can be condensed. I hope that Charles is not put off by that.

Re: Lets put together an FAQ
I agree with all of that and was about to contact you about the logo. As for making sure that folks know that the wiki is not a replacement for the board I think we should link back to popular discussion here on the subject AND I linked to here (TexasCHLforum.com) right under home in the navigation bar.

Perhaps a PM to Charles would be in order?

I thought I had done that, but looking into my outbox I must have missed that step. I have just now sent a PM to resolve that issue.CompVest wrote:Perhaps a PM to Charles would be in order?

TAM, it's not readily apparent to me how to jump in and make a contribution to the Wiki. I registered an account, but at the home screen it's really just an empty frame - no existing content is apparent beyond the links to other resources on the left, and no structure/hierarchy w/in which I'd add an entry. For instance, on belts, or holsters, or going to the bathroom, or printing, etc etc etc.
I'm happy to chip in, but you may be presuming a greater familiarity w. working w. wikis than many of us currently possess...

Re: Lets put together an FAQ
The last few days have been crazy for me, and that is putting it mildly. I have the next two days off work, although Friday is booked pretty solid for me and Saturday may be busy as well. However seeing as I am off work I will be able to access the Internet with something larger than my phone and I plan to do some work on the wiki including a quick guide to getting started. Here is the high priority todo list:
Page to explain how to get started editing the wiki, and creating new pages.
Create a structure that will make sense to better organize things.
Create content on the index page that will help people get started editing and finding info.

Re: Lets put together an FAQ
I cheated... I did a search for the title I wanted to use. A page came back saying there was no page for this topic, and did I want to start one? I went from there.RHenriksen wrote:TAM, it's not readily apparent to me how to jump in and make a contribution to the Wiki. By the way G.A. Heath, I was swamped myself today too, but I'll try to get that revised logo to you tomorrow.

- Type the title of your proposed article into the search field on the left side of the screen.
- The next screen will show you your title as a red link, and it will say that this page does not exist, would you like to create this page? If so, click on the red link.
- When you click on the red link, an editor screen will be loaded. Type in your content and use the provided editor tools to format the text.
- Preview/submit content.

Re: Lets put together an FAQ
I've decided I can't organize things until after there are more articles. So to keep myself busy I created a nice long article that had me up till 2:30am. I'll create a few stub articles for others to add to as well.

Re: Lets put together an FAQ
I noticed the acronyms wiki that has yet to be completed and also found this thread in another forum. I wasn't sure the format of the acronyms wiki we were looking for-just what acronyms stand for, or what they stand for along with a definition if it's required. I would be happy to register at that forum and see if that user would mind if we used his thread as a springboard for the chlwiki, I just didn't want to without the blessing of others here in control of the wiki. If you guys think it is a good idea let me know and I will get on it, otherwise I will drop it. It is harder than it seems to come up with a complete acronyms list when you are not actually using the acronyms-they're not something you think of until you put them to use in a post!
