Update: TAMU SCCC and TXSCCC

Post by txsccc »

I just wanted to give everyone an official update on our organization and on the local chapter at Texas A&M. Things have been very rough these last couple of weeks as just before classes started, our adviser and friend, Nolan Flowers, passed suddenly of a massive heart attack. His wife had just passed 3 or 4 months earlier and they both leave behind their four young sons. It’s been a devastating loss for our organization. He was a strong supporter of concealed carry on campus, an avid gun enthusiast, a 3-gunner, a huge asset to our community, and good friend. He will be dearly missed by all.

We did have our first meeting as planned, but had to cancel our first week of tabling while we get things in order. Our first main event, open house, went very well this last weekend and we distributed a couple hundred fliers and a couple dozen information packets (16 page long packets that should bring even many of the most stubborn opposition to our side). We only had a couple people who opposed us to come and speak to use, but we signed up a lot of new members and filled our last 2 AO spots. This brings our leadership to 20—5 officers, 12 assistant officers, our new Vice Chair, Lisa, the Chair and myself (now Co-Chair). Our membership on facebook is 1,600 and we have about 350 signed up on our list-serv.

Included are some pictures of the event.

On the state level, we are very appreciative of and honored by the bills that have been filed in support of concealed carry on campus by Representative Simpson, Senator Wentworth, Representative Driver, and for all of the co-authors that have signed onto our bills.

We encourage all Texas residents to call their legislators and let them know that you want them to support these bills.

Those who wish to help us can donate to our organization; any amount helps and is greatly appreciated, even if it's just $1. Funding to the TAMU chapter will be used to spearhead the efforts of this chapter and TXSCCC on the whole here in Texas. If you have children, please ask them to join our A&M, state, or national chapters.

You can send donations to:

Student Organization Finance Center
Texas A&M University
125 John J Koldus Student Services Building
Mail Stop 1236
Slot #385
College Station, TX 77843-1236

All checks and M.O. must be made out to TAMU SCCC. You will receive a thank you letter and small gift from us soon after your donation is received—we will let you know that we received it.

Thank you all for your continued support and as always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions.

Great, thank you for that

If you can't call, at least e-mail, it only takes a minute, here's a link the Texas ones are included, as well as US ones.
