DUTY Holster Suggestions

Post by carlson1 »

I actually need to know of a good quality black leather holster that accommodates a good quality tactical light. The department provides a holster just not one for a tactical light (glock 22)
Thanks

We run Safariland holsters. A check on the website will most likely be overwhelming since they have so many models.

GT Dist just opened a new store in Fort Worth. Here is a link to what I'm talking about regarding holsters:

http://www.gtdist.com/ProductDetail.asp ... F-6360-XXX" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you give me a day or two I may be able to find a used one for you. We switched to the G21sf from the 22, and I bet some guys that bought their own G22 holsters still have them. They are the nylon finish. If that's a deal breaker, then GTs will have them in "high gloss" which is the leather lined exterior.

I love the speed of the new design. We used to have to rock them back - now it is a hood, and a thumb lever, with a straight draw.

Also I recommend the TLR-1s for a light. Just be aware that the G22s have documented reliability issues when ran with a light due to stresses on the frame or something. I just ran my light barely tightened on there.

Umm...unless it's not currently listed on their website, I think you may be thinking of the store that just opened in Dallas, not Ft. Worth. (just an FYI)

I agree with Safariland...it is pretty much the industry standard. I carry a 6360 and love it. The documented problems with a G22 and a light can be solved by carrying a G17 :mrgreen:

I know there have been problems, but my G22 runs great with a light.

I don't think Safariland has sold a real leather holster in a looooong time, but if leather-look is good enough...... It's sad to see many of their products with a large "made in mexico" sticker on them.

I wouldn't use a true leather duty holster - not enough protection for the gun. My safariland has all types of nicks and scrapes that leather can't protect against.

The leather lined exterior holsters (Safariland) work great and look sharp too.
