Anyone have Tarus P709? What do you think?
I'm thinking about buying one of these or a Walther PPS. I like the price of the Tarus but don't know about the reliability for every day carry. I woulld love to hear from anyone that has thoughts of one or another.

I have one in stainless. Very reliable, shoots everything. I like it much better than my Kel_Tec PF9, which it is comparable to. I carry it when I can carry bigger than a pocket pistol, but not full size. Pack it in a Comp-Tac Minotaur and you have a winner.

Thanks! Thats the kind of stuff I want to hear. It makes me feel good about buying one.
Re: Anyone have Tarus P709? What do you think?
I'd recommend you try trigger on both first. PPS feels heavier and gritty at first, but smooths out to a nice 6 pound pull with crisp break after it is properly broken in with about 1,000 dry fire pulls.
Taurus Slim has a LONG take up before a lighter break than PPS.
I love my PPS. Slim wasn't out yet when I bought it.

I have a 709 Slim, and its ok. I would not regret selling it, but I do not regret buying it either. The slim has a DA/SA trigger which can not be decocked but does give you second strike capability. Overall its a gun I can recommend, but I do advise that people go shoot it before buying one.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

One of my hunting buddies has one and uses it for and EDC. He trusts it enough that he bought his wife and daughter each one to carry.
I have another buddy who bought one and hated it until someone told him to clean the cosmoline out of it.
No more jams. Now he's a big fan and carries it daily.
The only thing they don't like is the pinky dangle. The guy at the gun shop said there was a mag extension available to eliminate the pinky dangle, but they can't find one. Maybe it's available by now though.
Go for it. Thin is in. I love my Kahr P9.

I have one, stainless, I like the top loaded chamber indicator, the thumb safety, I wear it around the house, and sometimes as a BUG to my Glock, I like the huge trigger guard area in winter for gloved hands when fishing outdoors, honestly, I haven't fired it yet.
I bought it because 1) Stainless (fishing) 2) gloved hands (fishing) 3) thumb safety (in life vest pocket-fishing)
I slid a "small" Hogue rubber grip on upside-down and trimmed it around the mag release.
(helps grip especially when hands are slimy from fish, or wet (fishing)
"mag extension available to eliminate the pinky dangle" ...............yes it's a baseplate, or a mag with that baseplate.
Taurus was "supposed" to come out with extended extra capacity mags like 10 round or something.... never happened yet, I'm guessing it may not.

Taurus says they do not plan to come out with the extended magazine for the 709. I had to send it back twice after purchase, as it had ejecting issues. Shoots 100% now and feels decent in hand, good compromise between a mouse gun and a full size. Some are calling it "the Glock that Glock wishes it made" as it has a slight Glock appearance plus the Glock trigger saftey. But, unlike Glock, it is a single stack and has a manual safety. At some point I will probably sell it, but like it enough that I'm in no hurry.

I have the 740 slim...very reliable so far(250 rounds without one problem) very accurate and very concealable. For the price I think you definitely get what you pay for....the trigger has a pretty short reset so be careful of unintentional double taps.
Re: Anyone have Tarus P709? What do you think?
Would you rate it for pocket carry or only IWB?
Re: Anyone have Tarus P709? What do you think?
My wife has one and loves it. It fits her hands perfectly and she is very happy with it.
I personally can't stand the trigger on it and all other Taurus Polymer pistols. The only Taurus trigger I have liked is the PT-101. I've never tried their revolvers.

Re: Anyone have Tarus P709? What do you think?
A good friend bought his at about the same time I bought my CW9. He let me put a box of rounds through it. It wasn't a bad shooting pistol, but I much prefer my Kahr. I was more accurate with it and it just felt a little more solid and well-built. I found that that oversized trigger guard interfered with a comfortable shooting grip.
After shooting them both, I felt like I made the right choice for me. My buddy with the 709 felt like I made a better choice, too. For the approximately $50 difference (the CW9 is $402 new at Champion in CS), I think I got a better deal. However, that's my opinion. YMMV.
