Broken Guide Rod // Colt Defender

While at the range with the wife yesterday, the guide rod in my Colt Defender broke and jammed everything up. The metal piece that fits just behind the loop on the barrel broke shattered. Has anyone ever had this problem. The gun might have 300 rounds through it.

There's a recall for Defenders from serial no DR33036 to DR35948, if that helps:
