This is the reason I don't buy guns from anyone I don't know. I had a guy my sister knew from a town near mine try to sell me a pistol. He wasn't know as "that type" of person. I heard two weeks later he got pulled over for DWI and a search for "suspicious odors" found some pot and the gun he had stolen from a house he was working on a few weeks earlier.
Don't trust anybody in your house. If we have work done I put everything valuable I can in the safe and follow them everywhere they go. I also write down their name and who they work for as well as what time they were there and for what reason. I have known enough petty thieves to know they get their info on where to break in from friends and family that have legitimate reasons to be in peoples houses.
