Caracal semi-auto's - Multi calibers,options.Mfgd Abu Dhabi.

The above link is the wikipedia entry detailing the new Caracal brand of pistols,
made in Abu Dhabi, UAE (United Arab Emirates).

IMHO, this pistol has a pleasing look, appears to be ergonomically well-designed
to hold, and has an interesting set of accessory items. Would the attachment of
the stock, making it a shoulder-fired weapon, change its definition as a "handgun"?

It has only recently been authorized for US sales by BATFE. The US importer
is located in Tennessee.

Making an assumption here that the deep-pocketed Abu Dhabi investors spared no
expense in developing a new pistol line, this line could conceivably be the next
"must have" weapon for handgun lovers. I feel that one oversight is that although
it comes in 5 different grip colors, it doesn't offer grips in various sizes, which
is much more common with other brands these days.

This is the Futura Club shooting session, near Rome, Italy in September, 2009.

The name "Caracal" is taken from the "largest of the small cats", a predator
whose name comes from the Turkish word meaning "black ear."

Has anyone out there shot one of these? Please comment on this gun's pros
and cons, and whether you think it could gain market share in the US, or whether
it will remain a small-volume player.

There's a pretty good write up in the current issue of Combat Handguns (if that article wasn't the reason for your post).

Texas Size 11:

That could have been the place where I first read about them.
Many times I browse the gun mags at the store, then come home
and round up a few links so that I can share an item with some of
y'all.

You may have just busted me on my souces! :-)

There is a full review of that gun on this forum I believe. It has to be on page two or so of the general section.

Looks like a Big Styer. Muzzle jump is bit pronounced. However, the recoil spring seems light. The shooter was racking like one who is racking a racing gun. That will increase the fire rate.

Best luck for the new manufacturer in UAE!
