Gun Sale
I just thought I would post a quick note for those who are looking for a used gun. A friend of mine asked me about a used revolver and I mentioned that the last time I was at GT's a few weeks ago, they had quite a few. Some looked pretty beat as they were all old police trade-in's, but I saw a couple I was considering.
Since he had never heard of GT's, I took him up there today at lunch. And, much to my surprise, their used gun cabinet was almost empty. They had pulled most of their stock from display because of an upcoming event. Monday, February 21, they will be having a used gun clearance sale. This will happen at both their Austin store and their new Dallas location.
So, anyone looking for a used pistol might stop by GT's on Monday. They will sell used guns to anyone legally able to buy one.

Re: Gun Sale
They dropped them about 2 weeks ago. No reason given. They are selling leftover inventory.

I actually got a reason from them today, when I stopped by the Austin store for the 1st time to pick up a Gen 4 Glock 19. The guy I dealt with (Mike, IIRC) told me that S&W was going to departments that GT had been servicing in the area and selling directly to the departments, undercutting GT's price. When they tried to discuss it with S&W and work the issue out, S&W blew GT off, so GT dropped them.

I heard much the same thing a few days ago. Thankfully I picked up my M&P9 and M&P45 BEFORE this happened. Sucks. I hope S&W will see the error of their ways and GTs will start carrying them again. But I have my doubts.maverick2076 wrote:^

It depends.74novaman wrote:So from their website, they only sell to law enforcement/military?
I believe their LE dealer agreement with Glock restricts new sales of the blue label Glocks to law enforcement, plus others who meet Glock's "homeland security" qualifications. Other new firearms may have similar restrictions depending on the firearm manufacturer's agreement with GTdist.
They'll sell used guns to anyone who can legally purchase, because the LE-dealer agreements (AFAIK) don't cover used guns.
We're here. With gear. Get used to it.
Re: Gun Sale
If you're a GSSF member, they will sell you a Glock through that customer purchase program. Can't say the guy that sold me the gun seemed all that thrilled about me doing it. I got continuous you're-not-welcome-here vibes.
Heck, he didn't even try to "upsell" me holsters, magazines, etc. If he had, have probably sold a LOT more than just a pistol. But no, apparently, I was a "civilian" and was interfering with his jovial banter with his cop customer buddies.
People behind the counter that exude "country club" vibes quickly get that store put on the "ain't comin back" list. Just sayin.
