Big Town Gunshow This Weekend

Post by QB »

Just got back from the gunshow. It's a little smaller than I remember and some of the vendors that I used to purchase from weren't there. I went specifically to go on a little Glock handgun and Glock accessory buying spree. I'm getting ready to compete in some GSSF competitions and maybe some others at the DPC so I purchased some Glocks over the last couple of months. Three purchases were from an out of state dealer I use but they didn't have the G17C. I was on their waiting list but decided I didn't want to wait so I purchased locally at a higher price but not that much more. There are two local dealers that I do like to support from time to time.

Today I got a G17C and previously I purchased an ODG G17 and two ODG G26s.

Also picked up at the show a new belt (when I thread the holster and mag holders on my current belt it's a tad too small....that's my story and I'm sticking to it  ), two Blackhawk Serpa Holsters (right and left hand), 3 more double Blackhawk mag pouches, some rubber grip decals, a smaller 4 gun range bag (bright red so ya can't miss it) and a few other items. Also traded some old no name CZ/Ruger mags for one Factory OEM G26 mag.

Lots of people were there and appeared to be buying. The three major gun dealers there were SAWS, The Gun Zone and Bachman.

I think I now have 7+ guns that are in my safe unfired. I just HAVE to get to the range. :banghead:

Here's my little Glock family. Sorry about some of the weird looking ones, my camera seems to make things look "squatty" for some reason (probably my operator error).

I took it to my range immediatly and put over 100 rds through. PM me when you are going to the BT show as I live only about 2 mi away and usually go just for the entertainment value. :anamatedbanana

I used to go to that show all the time but in the last year I normally just go to Market Hall. For some reason I find the drive from Carrollton just too long and lots of traffic on 635 and Central (but I've been sort of under the weather and have had lots on my plate for the past few years so I'm basically just tired).

I enjoyed seeing a lot of my vendor friends. I really wanted to buy one or two more guns but until I actually shoot all my new ones I am trying to hold off buying any more.

I bought a lot of accessories. Can actually get them cheaper online but I try to support some of the vendors if I can. Some items I really need to see in person, just like the G17C. Wanted the old finish and that's what I got. My other 3 newly purchased Gen3s have the new grey finish. It's OK but I really like the old shiney black finish.

I normally go for entertainment also and to visit my friends. Living only 2 miles away would be heaven!!! Sounds like you made a great haul. :thumbs2:

What range do you go to? I've only shot at indoor ranges.

I've been to a traditional range exactly three times in over 30 years of shooting. We've got 35 acres of wooded land in Kaufman county, talk about heaven, it's on a dead end dirt road about 200 yards from the end. I am the range officer so only my rules apply :biggrinjester:
I just have to get the beautiful city girl that I,m married to to move out there. :coolgleamA:

I have a S&W 4583TSW and a Taurus 85DAO I am thinking of selling, might run over today and see what happens. I have wanted to get to that show since I moved here, caught the other show twice already (and I'm within three miles of both locations).

Grog, the BT show is way better than the rodeo show. Make sure you stop @ SAW, Gun Zone, Bachman. Those three have the best prices and selection in the entire show. Good luck!

It was funny, I carried my SS Mini 14 with a folding ATI stock in to try and find a sling. As soon as I got through the door I had about 10 people wanting to know how much. I got my sling and also picked up a PX4 in 9mm.

Taurus sold, two holsters bought, one moron told off after he pointed a handgun's laser at my chest.

He said "it got your attention"

My reply would get me a note from a mod here
